The ERCA Traditional Ropes Course Instructor course offers a recognised standard for people who operate or work on traditional high ropes courses. This can include High and Low Ropes Courses and activities such as Jacob’s Ladder, Leap of Faith, Crate Challenge etc, typically these courses use an auto belay system.
The course includes both practical and theory elements to sufficiently cover the entire syllabus to ensure a wide ranging knowledge. We can run the course from our centre in North Devon, but can also deliver the course at High Ropes courses throughout the UK.
The course complies with the standards required by the ERCA Training Syllabus as set out in EN15567 and includes:
Theory – Norms and ERCA Standards, Law & Insurance, General knowledge & the role of Instructors, General safety standards, Emergency Plans, Site Specific Rules, Basic knowledge of Forces & Safety Systems, Knowledge of knots and harnesses, Understanding of ropes course programmes
Practical – Independent preparation/operation of High Elements, Independent preparation/operation of Low Elements, Spotting and Lifting, Purpose of Exercise, Belaying, Accessing, Facilitation Skills
The ERCA training and assessment costs £220 per person, a discounted rate of £200 is available for students (in full time education).
• Minimum age: 18 years old.
• Hold an in-date First Aid certificate.
• Must be confident at height.
• Good physical condition, able to partake in the activity.
• At least one day prior experience on a high ropes course is required. This could be provided at the beginning of the training course.
